Superman and me

Sherman Alexie was an indian boy who learned to read from the comic book superman. Sherman read and read till he couldn’t see, he was devoted to learning to read and was highly devoted and inspired by his father. He wanted to break past poverty and wanted to be successful in life. Superman was a metaphor for shermans life he wanted to break past the culture barrier and succeed in a non indian world .

Sherman compared his family to a paragraph and really explained that the barriers were sentences. He compared writing into real life situations. He faced a huge problem with  being judged by indians and non-indians, if he was successful he would be judged by fellow indians because he had things they didn’t have. But if he failed in a non-indian world he would be judged by them but accepted by fellow indians. So he wanted to be successful for himself and not listen to others comments and was very successful in his life.

I’m come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me is time. People say Time is money but what are they really living for, time  in my mind is the greatest thing in the world. Time out values money in every way, when people look back at their lives they wish they had their time back. Because when you die you  can’t take your money with you.  Time does not stop for anyone so take advantage while you have your time.

Today in class we how to write a professional email and learned all the key components that we should include in one. We also sent an email to spencer regarding our URL for our WordPress. Another discussion activity we did was what is good writing and we expressed our opinions through our blog.

What, in your opinion is good writing?

Good writing in my opinion is writing that is appealing to a reader. Something that draws the readers attention and really engages them , in good writing i feel one must use figurative language and be really  descriptive. A writer must also appeal to ones ethos, pathos, and logos. Another key component in good writing is tone and the way you talk about the topic. Good writing comes from a good writer which comes from a lot of studying and practice.
